A vivid small-scale painting of a tree in many colors. Oil on canvas, signed and dated (1967).
The thick applications of oil paint (impasto) brings the tree to life, creating a tactile, almost three-dimensional surface. The palette remains rooted in naturalistic tones, but the application — heavy, confident, gestural — transforms a simple tree motif into a compelling study of form, texture and light. A fine example of mid-20th-century Scandinavian naturalism — a simple subject, and an expressive execution.
The painting is cleaned and comes with a complementary vintage wooden frame. Both painting and frame are in good vintage condition but may show some age-related wear and tear, which largely contributes to its charm. The best way to see this is through the photos, so study them because they form the description.
Size: 30 x 26 cm (with frame)
