Sunlit Tree

This large colorful oil painting has the lightness of watercolor, but a strong, almost architectural structure. Ulla Waller’s painting style is clearly influenced by the French impressionist whom she studied during her visits to France in the 30s. The frame accentuates the light of the sun and you can almost feel its warmth through this work.

The painting is surface cleaned and comes with a complementary, well-suited vintage gilded frame. Both painting and frame may show some age-related wear and tear, which largely contributes to their charm. The best way to see this is through the photos, so study them because they form the description.

About the artist:

Ulla Torstensdotter Waller (1916 –1996) was a Swedish painter and illustrator. Waller studied at Painting Schoold and at the Royal Institute of Art in Stockholm. From 1935-1939 she spent time in France studying art and lived mostly in Paris during the 1970s and until her death. Ulla Waller received several scholarships in Sweden and Paris and exhibited throughout Scandinavia. Waller is represented in the Gothenburg, Karlstad, Västerås, Fagersta, Huddinge and Vällinge cultural committees, as well as in Berlin and Sydney in Australia.
