About the artist:
Stig Arne Ragnar Aspelin (1911 – 1990) was a Swedish painter. Aspelin began working as an advertising illustrator and professional lithographer before studying art at the Skåne School of Painting in Malmö in 1930 and during study trips to Germany and France. He made his debut in an exhibition with Skånes konstförening in 1935 and subsequently participated in the association's autumn exhibitions regularly and in various group exhibitions in the countryside. He exhibited in Stockholm in 1938 and in Ystad in 1948. His art consists of still lifes, figure compositions, portraits, street scenes and landscape paintings in oil, watercolour or tempera. Arne Aspelin is represented at Malmö Museum and Ystad Art Museum. He is buried in the memorial grove at Limhamn cemetery in Malmö.
