Swedish painter Olja Börje Nilsson-Hugo (1913-1987) went outside on a moonlit night in 1948 to capture this serene full moon scene, using firm vertical and diagonal brushstrokes, in a typical mid-century expressionistmanner.

About the artist:
Börje Nilsson-Hugo studied at Otte Sköld's painting school in Stockholm. He is known for his murals , altar paintings in several churches and chapels. Also worked as a newspaper cartoonist and with sculpting. Nilsson-Hugo created several well-known logos for Swedish companies and associations. The motifs in Nilsson-Hugo's paintings convey compositions often containing nature and mountains, magical worlds and mysticism.
