The dark trees were made with just a few quick brush strokes, but Olesen also added some lighter colors which makes the forest come to life.

About the artist:
In his younger years, self-taught Danish painter Eyvind Olesen (1907-1995) cycled around Denmark and drew and painted what he saw. Twice he reached Hamburg where he was influenced by German Expressionism. He made name for himself and exhibited his work throughout Europe. Olesen was rewarded a part of the Van Gogh legacy, an artist he greatly admired. Eyvind Olesen contributed to Asgers Jorn's journal "Helhesten" and was a member of several artists' associations.
