Coastal Landscape - Gideon Isaksson - 67 x 42 cm

Oil on canvas, c. 1950s/60s. Presented in a newly made wood frame.

This powerful landscape is typical of Gideon Isaksson’s mature, color-led approach to the Swedish terrain.

Isaksson reduces the scene to its essential structure. The rock is rendered in angular, almost sculptural planes, while the loosely brushed sky and distant treeline are left atmospheric and unfussy. The restrained palette is sophisticated, and the visible canvas weave and impasto give the surface a tactile quality. The result is a composition that feels both observed and carefully constructed, rooted in the Scandinavian colorist tradition.

The painting has been newly framed in a slim, warm-toned wooden frame with a clean profile. Its natural grain echoes the earthy tones of the rock and sets off the cool greys of the sky, making the work an effortless fit for a modern Scandinavian or Japandi interior, where it brings calm, texture and a sense of landscape to the wall.

Size: 58 x 33 cm (with frame)
