Intriguing oil painting of abstract figures with pointy hats, marching. Oil on panel, signed (Laila Pratz) and dated (1965).
Exquisite example of mid-century art: halfway between cubism and geometric abstraction in a striking color combination of blues, purple, black and red. Thick layers of dark colors in the back and bright blue in the front give depth, this painting really draws you in. The colors and captivating scene is a real conversation starter!
In the mid 1960s, artist Laila Prytz spent time in Kenia, Spain, Portugal, Taiwan and Thailand, where she got her inspiration for this cubist-surrealist masterpiece.
The painting is surface cleaned and comes with a complementary wooden frame. Both painting and frame are in good condition but may show some age-related wear and tear, which largely contributes to their charm. The best way to see this is through the photos, so study them because they form the description.
Size: 39 x 31 cm (with frame)
