A large, expressionist midcentury modern painting of a stormy coast. Oil on canvas. Signed.
Arwid Karlsson (1907-1964) created this large piece with just a few well placed strokes of black paint. Adding whites and blues and some grays and browns make the rocks and the rough sea stand out.
The painting is surface cleaned and comes with a complementary, well-suited silver vintage wood frame. Both painting and frame may show some age-related wear and tear, which largely contributes to their charm. The best way to see this is through the photos, so study them because they form the description.

About the artist:
Karlsson studied at the Adadémie de la Grande Chaumière in Paris and Académie Scandinave Maison Watteau. He exhibited in the Mälmo Museum and Stockholm and his work is represented in the Mälmo City Hall. His work consits of still lifes, portraits and (coastal) landscapes. Karlsson also taught at Essem School of painting in Mälmo.
