Lindqvist builds the background from scraped and layered whites, greys and warm off-tones, the canvas weave visible through thin passages of paint, so that the surface itself reads as atmosphere rather than backdrop. Against this, the three shapes are laid in with a looser hand — strokes of coral pink, acid green, ochre and soft yellow pushed and dragged rather than modelled. A scatter of grey-violet marks along the lower register anchors the fruit to a implied surface without ever describing a table.

It's a still life that has largely let go of the genre's usual apparatus — no tablecloth, no vessel, no defined light source — and works instead through color and touch. He trained at the Essem school in Malmö and at Tekniska Skolan in the early 1950s, and undertook study trips to Paris, Italy and Spain — the classic formation for a Swedish painter of his generation, testing French color and Mediterranean light before settling into a language of his own. He taught at Målarskolan Forum from 1962 to 1965 and exhibited widely, including at the Nationalmuseum, as well as in Malmö, Lund and Stockholm, and with the Skåne Art Association, the Swedish General Art Association and the Artists' Cooperative Organisation.

Lindqvist worked in oil, acrylic and egg-oil tempera and was also active as a graphic artist, painting landscapes, still lifes and abstract compositions — always, notably, to classical music, an affinity that resurfaces throughout his work in the recurring motif of the violin. Active on Österlen, he was a member of the Eastern Skåne Artists' Guild and of KRO (the Swedish Artists' National Organisation). He is represented in the collections of the Nationalmuseum, Moderna Museet, the Regional Museum in Kristianstad, Borås Art Museum, Helsingborg City Museum and the Museum of Sketches.

Weder.
